Nile falls near Bahir Dar - Sep 23 to 26, 2007
In the context of my work I had to travel to visit some projects in Bahir Dar and Enjibara. Thanks to this I had the opportunity to visit the Nile falls near Bahir Dar. The blue Nile is called "Abbay" in Ethiopia. At the end of the rainy season it's the best time to visit the Blue Nile falls:

Fortunately this joung pretty lady could accompany myself !

One afternoon we could come to this wonderful place, only for some few hours, however very impressive:

Nearby we passed over an old portuguese bridge from the 17th century:

Beside Ale and me there is Harald, a colleague and his wife Petra.

This is an impression of Lake Tana in Bahir Dar. Because of my intensive work I had no time to take fotos there. But Barhir Dar is one of the nicest towns in Ethiopia:

The garden of the restaurant lakesides:

The following two fotos are from our way back to Addis Ababa. The distance is 600 km one way and it takes 9 hours including a break to have lunch at Debre Markos. It takes its time, overall because of the Nile canyon: From the highlands 1000 meters down to the river and then 1000 mts uphill again - gravel road, of course:

It's really great !

Down there the silver reflection is the Nile.

The rest of the way is on a good paved road:
